[despite what he is— because of what he is— he takes particular pride in summoning up the ghosts of those places he remembers as being lovely to give to his new host. he may not be able to change his nature, after all, but he's always found a perverse sort of pleasure in warping the rules.

this is no exception.

tonight, he gives her the Sky Gardens. the climb up is long, but the forest park at the top of the staircases is quiet and peaceful, even on the cliffs that overlook the alien city down below. here, he is no more than a deeper shadow under a particular tree, waiting patiently for his new dreamer to come.
