[it's working.

he initially hadn't dared to do more than dream of convincing a few people here, a few Pokemon there— improving a few lives at a time and planting the seeds for ideas that might fully bloom once he'd succeeded in his work as Tesshin. but he'd vastly underestimated several things: the power of word of mouth among all species; the efforts Pokemon would make to be heard, once they knew they were being listened to; and most importantly of all, the fact that most people were kind.

there had been an initial wave of suspicion, of course (Team Plasma was not so easily forgotten); but after repeatedly making his views clear (and reacting rather angrily to one questioner who had asked his thoughts on the sadly common breeder practice of releasing unwanted hatchlings) that had cooled down, and suddenly there were crowds growing and listening in when he stopped to discuss dreams and choices with Pokemon or trainers that looked receptive enough. and if that weren't enough he'd gotten a television interview within a month, another within the same week as the first (thank you, newscaster competition)... and finally, an actual public speaking engagement during a local festival celebrating Pokemon.

it had been the most rewarding thing he'd ever done. it had also been the most terrifying thing he'd ever done. which is why he's just... going to sit down now that he's done and try to wait out the adrenaline rush before he tries doing anything else.]

The human's name is Len Kagamine, and I may have been impolite and forgotten to ask the Absol's name. I'm afraid I tend to use up all my manners and eloquence during public speaking, and it takes some time for them to come back...

I forgive you. Names are not so important.

But since the human... "Len", is asking, tell him my name is--

[it's a word that doesn't translate directly - protection, it means, something strong that separates the innocent from danger. it's plucking a child away from a cliff edge, standing strong against a rampaging enemy. it means a fierce love and defense of the helpless.]

[snorts delicately at Len, and then slowblinks at the both of them]

His name's not directly translatable; Pokemon names tend to be nouns or concepts that often don't quite line up. The closest human word for who he is would be "ward."

[but for good measure, he passes the full feeling of the definition on. that's a good name to have, and it deserves to be known to its fullest extent.]

[blinks a little with the force of it; it's a familiar feeling, just unexpectedly strong]

And now that we're all introduced, I am going to go lie down. Being on one's feet for most of the day when they aren't shaped right is not the most pleasant of things.

Ah - Ward, are you hungry at all? I tried my hand at making poffins yesterday, and I think they came out reasonably well.

I did not doubt your claims, but I am still pleasantly surprised. I have never been treated this way by a human. Usually they hate and blame me.

...Perhaps not right away. But if the seed of an idea can be planted...

Even if they won't listen to me personally, I can think of several books I can leave behind. Even if the adults don't read them, the children will, and they'll grow up knowing better.

... I would like that. Even if the past cannot be mended, it would make me happy if even one person in the future could learn that we only mean well.

[and this is where I re-enter with two plates full of poffins :) sets down a plate on the couch and hands the other to Kaitwo]

[oops, that's a dere leak. swishing his tail and setting the plate down before taking a Poffin and biting into it.

This Miku you mention - is she a Pokemon too? Is she like Kaitwo, or something else?
