[seeing Pokemon at the local cafe is not that unusual, although normally they're the smaller, "cute" ones, brought in by trainers attracted to the cafe's fancy atmosphere and delicate baked goods.
seeing Pokemon by themselves, however, is. especially when the Pokemon in question is a six-foot tall cat-type bristling with both fur and muscles. ...even if it is wearing a rather dapper jacket and shirt. and genteelly nibbling at a Poffin while reading a book.
um?]
((ooc: ...Pokemon AU free for all? 8D;; Kaitwo's recently helped pass some pretty significant laws for equal Pokemon rights and is a recognizable public figure in-universe at this point, but if you'd rather not try to deal with all the weird plot we've built up feel free to just gawk at the Mewtwo in a coffee shop. or do something completely different!))

H'm, perhaps he should get a little something for himself too. Now that he thought about it he was feeling a bit pecki--]

No, no, no, noNevermind, appetite's gone.Turning right around to exit as fast as possible without drawing any more attention than the frantic dinging of the bell above the door already has.]

...he recognizes that mind. the man's appearance, too, although that takes several moments; he hadn't had his eyes open long enough to note down faces before he'd attempted to destroy them all for what they'd done.]
—Wait. ...Please.
no subject
It must look a little silly, what with how quick he was to get out the door, but his attention has successfully been grabbed.
He shouldn't turn around. He promised he wouldn't have anything to do with Rocket or that project ever again, and yet here it was sitting out in broad daylight nibbling on a pastry. He should just walk away and forget he saw anything.
The Cubone in his arms stirs, and he brings up a hand to gently stroke its back. For a moment he freezes again, staring at the scars curling across that hand...and turns to look at Kaitwo from the corner of his eye.]

slipping from the stool he had been perched on and taking a few hesitant steps toward him]
... I owe you something. An apology.
no subject
...What?

I attempted to murder you out of what was essentially nothing more than a fit of pique. Regardless of my own treatment and my feelings thereupon, what I did was— [the feeling of him groping around for the right word] Inexcusable. [it comes overladen with other words and feelings: shame, regret, horror.]
I'm sorry that I did it, and I'm glad you survived.
no subject
...Would you mind if we sat down to discuss this?

huffing through his nose and shaking his head reluctantly]
So long as we can both remain civil. The staff here have been kind to me; I would rather not repay that by scaring off clientele.

...Alright, one more steadying breath, then he can talk.]
I'm sure you can understand how odd this is, considering. Which isn't to say that I reject your apology, it's just...you're hardly the only party at fault.
no subject
I'm well aware of that. I still count you among their number, to an extent.
no subject
As you should. And, given this opportunity, I'd like to offer my own apology.
no subject
no, baby, stop it, I am having a serious discussion and should not leak dere everywhere in the middle of it...blinks, and slowly flips his ears forward. still, his "voice" remains guarded as he asks:]
For what, precisely?

[A sigh]
I've had a while to think. And the fact I almost died isn't the only reason the project was a bad idea.
no subject
...I don't think the project at its core was a bad idea. Doing it for that man and his reasons, however...
Of course, I admit that I may be biased.
[giving himself a shake]
Regardless, consider yourself forgiven. I've more than repaid that debt.
no subject
Thank you.
[This is still kind of weird but it has gotten considerably better. Which baby seems to notice, taking Piko's relaxation as a cue that he can do the same and sinking more leisurely into his seat.]

looking back at his Poffin]
Can (he/she) have solid food?
no subject
Yes, he can.

Want?
no subject
But that doesn't last too long.
Timid, but clearly happy, he accepts and wastes no time in nibbling away at it.]

...Please excuse me. I'm afraid I've got something of a soft spot for children.

[Still neck-rubbing, and eeeeheehee food and affection c:]
SORRY I got stuck for a while :|a
...
I apologize for being nosy, but are you raising him alone?
S'all good bb I know how that is
[--Wait, damn, that's right! He had been on his way home!]

[catching his expression]
?
no subject
[This isn't exactly something that happens terribly often, though. Should he really just...up and leave it at that...?]
If...you'd like to continue talking, I should at least phone and let her know I'll be late.
no subject
... I wouldn't mind it, but I also wouldn't want to keep you from home if you're needed.
A thousand years later
Perhaps...we could talk another time?
[His expression and tone make it clear that it's an honest invitation rather than a polite goodbye.]
LIKEWISE i thought I'd tagged this...
That would be welcome. I'll be back here in two days' time, if that works for you.
