itp: complete werewolfy gratuity

[he knew, when he came to the city to pursue his singing career, that he'd be away from his pack. he'd thought, at the time, that it would be okay. he was the omega wolf in any case, and he'd been looking forward to the freedom.

(his own proclivities notwithstanding. that was a separate thing, somehow elusively different. he could ask to be beaten or bound, and find someone to oblige him. he'd never asked to be the omega.)

but it was lonelier than he'd expected, being the only wolf he knew here. being out from under the hierarchical bullying of his own pack was nice; the lack of anyone to run with or howl with or just curl up with in a furry heap on lazy nights was rather less so.

the ceaseless busyness of writing, recording, performing, and interviewing is enough to put it from his mind, sometimes. but sometimes not. and especially not during lulls in activity, when he has days free to himself, wide open and lonely.

he sits slumped on a park bench, disconsolately flipping pebbles into a fountain.]

[...uhuhuhu it really is. wagging a little harder before stopping entirely, his movements becoming almost silent. stealth mooooode]

[follows suit, licking his chops once. heeeere piggy piggy piggy]

[—freezing with one foot still in the air as his ears perk up

he hears snuffling]

[it's a good thing we're here after all, this thing is way too close to the park

he tests the wind, and starts very quietly to ease himself more downwind]

[following him, content to let Kaito lead the hunt. if he took the lead, habit would cause him to start falling back on his own hunting tactics— but a vampire's hunt is quicker than a wolf's, and he doesn't want to take the chance to run away from him.]

[his tail wags as he creeps closer, slowly insinuating himself under and through a ferny patch between him and the prey. the boar is just rooting in the dirt, unaware of the two of them.

grab the ear, he thinks. grab the ear and hold it until Kagamine can sink his fangs in and have his drink; then, while it's woozy, deliver the killing bite if necessary, and feast.

he glances briefly over his shoulder to make sure the other Kaito is there and ready to act, before going back to watching the boar. steady... wait for the right moment...

and there and he surges out of the ferns and has his jaws clamped on the boar's ear before it can run and get in here, huntbrother]

[he doesn't need to be prompted at all. Kaito's grip on the boar's ear has its neck twisted, exposing it just enough, and between that and the anticipation he's been feeling all day it's enough to make his eyes flash a sudden, hungry red.

he darts out of the greenery, still eerily silent and low to the ground, and hits the boar's neck with all the force of a loosed arrow.

there will be no slow, quiet death for this animal; it's as good as meat already, and he wants to drink in its life and the last beats of its heart now. a quick, vicious shake of his head rips its throat out entirely, and before it can realize what has happened to it—before too much of the blood can be wasted—he's sunk his teeth back into the wound.]

[a quick kill. he growls approvingly even as he holds fast to the boar. long experience with being the last to eat permits him patience as the wolf-vampire feeds; that, and the knowledge that whatever Kagamine leaves is his.]

[the growl doesn't even register; he's so engrossed in feeding that he doesn't even react when the boar's legs collapse beneath it, besides to follow it down.

it isn't until it shudders and breathes its last that he releases it, licking the last smears of blood from his chops before he looks expectantly at the other Kaito, his eyes fading back to blue.]

[no sooner does Kagamine release the boar than does Kaito flip it over and tear ravenously at its belly, nosing past the intestines as they spill out to find the liver, oh, the liver. it's as rich and fat and delicious as he's always dreamed, still hot from just-departed life.]

[wagging his tail in approval as he starts to lie down.

...the liver does look good, though. while he's comfortably full, he's still not quite sated; an unfortunate consequence of his bad habit of underfeeding. he just doesn't feel comfortable with taking lives when hunting only for himself, and that puts a limit on how much he's willing to take.

this, though... this is a chance to completely stuff himself without shame— and while he's already taken all of the blood, well, there's a reason the liver and the heart were considered sources of life.

whining quietly in inquiry. share?]

[pauses, half-eaten liver hanging out of his mouth. he really wants the rest of it, but it's thanks to Kaito that they were able to bring the boar down - thanks to Kaito that he can even hunt here.

he wonders for a moment just how this will affect their standing relative to one another before deciding not to care, and gently lays the rest of the liver down in front of Kaito. after a moment's further thought, slightly reluctantly gives him the heart too.

[stilling in surprise—he hadn't expected Shion to give him that much of both—and then wagging furiously, leaning in to lick briefly at his cheek. he's vaguely aware that his actions are probably putting him firmly at the bottom of the totem pole, but he doesn't care about that any more than he had cared about it when he'd assumed that role for his pack. Kaito is less likely to try and take advantage of his submission, anyway.

...it's a pity he can only take the life from the organs by eating them, though; Kaito'd probably enjoy the taste more than he's capable of. oh well :9]

[that surprises him. he hadn't expected a show of gratitude, much less a submissive gesture in response to what had felt like a submissive act. after cocking his head curiously for a moment, he wags his tail too and settles back in to really eat.

submitting to each other? or... is this more a relationship of equals?

he thinks he likes it.]

[...did he mishandle that? but Shion had wagged, so...

argh, he'll ask later. starting to wolf down his own portion]

[had wagged? is wagging. he seems perfectly content as he greedily devours the carcass. the intestines he tosses aside disinterestedly, but the rest he wolfs down with relish, from organs to bones to muscles.

finally he lets out a contented sigh and flops over, gorged and happy.]

[whuffing cheerfully at him, stretching out happily as well. he's bordering on uncomfortably full now, but he won't be hungry for a long time.

...hopefully Miku will still be awake when he gets home. it'll be nice to curl up with her without some shadowed corner of his mind thinking of her as a meal.]

[grins at him goofily, tongue lolling out. THAT WAS A GOOD HUNT]

[laughing at him, his own tongue hanging out. that was excellent and we are so doing it again. ...right?]

[affirmative wag. any time you want, bro!]

[:D! rolling over onto his back to execute a ridiculous puppywiggle]

[barks a laugh. YOU'RE SILLY

rolls over too. that is the extent of my energy]

[it's silly and he knows it, but that doesn't stop the little flicker of self-satisfaction he feels seeing Shion so stuffed he can barely move. but then, he always had been happiest helping others, and that hadn't changed when he'd died. he should be used to that sort of thing by now.

huffing (and wagging nonetheless) before rolling back over toward the other wolf, and settling in. if Shion wants to sleep his meal off, he'll keep watch.]

[gives a contented little whurf and closes his eyes

then opens them again when he hears a raven croak nearby. he rolls reluctantly to his feet with a put-upon whine and pads slowly to a depression in the ground, further away. guard or not, we should let the scavengers have their space]
