KAITO: SHADOW GARBAGE AU EDITION OPEN POST

Because sometimes you love both the split personality and inner demons tropes way too much, and there's only one way to handle it.

THE AU IS RIDICULOUS, but all you really need to know is Kaito got humanity's malice dumped into his head along with ridiculous power, and his way of coping with both that and the trauma involved was to shove it all in with everything else he represses the heck out of and then completely dissociate himself from it. End result: what he thinks of as his inner monster has completely split off into a personality of its own, following the imagery and pattern left behind by the Shadow from that one time the Vocaloid Dressing Room had a Persona event.

(Please don't judge me.)

Feel free to pick a scenario, if you can't think of one just blank tag this sucker and I'll come up with something!

No. It comes with its own set of problems, but pain isn't one of them.

I'd like to learn more. It's important to me, to understand why things are the way the are. Related to me or not.

That isn't a bad philosophy to have.

All right. Most of the problems stem from one source— installing the machinery and creating this body involved causing necessary damage to it.

[ holding up his right hand with its thick bracelet of scar tissue around the wrist to illustrate. the skin tone on either side of it doesn't quite match, the same as with the scarring on his face and neck. ]

Without going into too much detail, the result of that was nerve damage and poor circulation, and the former couldn't start to heal itself until the latter was fixed. Until fairly recently, I didn't have much in the way of a sense of pain, or touch, or... "proprioception," if you know what that means?

... I do not, but I think I get it. Not to question your existence, but... if it's that troublesome, why? Or were you experimental?

I was experimental, but there's more to it than that. My father wanted a son, and...

I have a sister. She's a robot, an automaton— one of the first that could be said to think for itself, the way a human would. But... she could not feel. My father could build her mind, but not a "heart."

I was made so that the- the data, the things that made up a human heart could be recorded in a form that could be made into a "heart" my sister could use.

It is. It worked, so my sister can be happy— and when other people like her are inevitably brought into the world, they will be able to be, too.
