KAITO: SHADOW GARBAGE AU EDITION OPEN POST

Because sometimes you love both the split personality and inner demons tropes way too much, and there's only one way to handle it.

THE AU IS RIDICULOUS, but all you really need to know is Kaito got humanity's malice dumped into his head along with ridiculous power, and his way of coping with both that and the trauma involved was to shove it all in with everything else he represses the heck out of and then completely dissociate himself from it. End result: what he thinks of as his inner monster has completely split off into a personality of its own, following the imagery and pattern left behind by the Shadow from that one time the Vocaloid Dressing Room had a Persona event.

Feel free to pick a scenario, if you can't think of one just blank tag this sucker and I'll come up with something!

Tristan. I asked whether the Theater could keep you from giving me any more orders before I finish destroying the bindings. The attendant says yes, but to do so they essentially have to key the bindings to someone else.

...Harvey said he doesn't mind taking them.

[There's a brief moment where the connection is still open where there's a sharp impart of jealousy and vindication Kaito is leaving and then Tristan shuts down any feeling or feedback along that. Suppressing everything.]

Is that so? What do we need to do?

[ draws himself up to his full height and gives Tristan A Look ]

They haven't given me a price yet; apparently what they pick will depend on Harvey. Aside from that, I don't know aside from them needing all three of us here.

With your permission, though, I would like to reestablish my side of things with you if they move that as well.

Kaito is given "increased awareness of the bond" and "temporary reintegration" and looks incredibly dubious about both, but accepts after the attendant makes an offhand remark about how the latter will help him tone down the whole demon headmate thing so he might as well ]

[Tristan shrugs. Not like his younger self will be good at anything. He takes the cup offered to him and downs it. The effect is immediate. He looks a few years older and red tattoos appear on his skin, familiar. Any sense of magic about him becomes muted and he blinks mildly at Kaito and Harvey like he's trying to figure out how he got here.]

Then sits down hard as his eyes flash yellow.]

his shift is a little more dramatic: he goes dark in the same way he would shifting to wolf, but instead of shaking the shadows off in that shape he stays... well, mostly the same. his eyes have gone a lighter blue (although they have the same weirdly reflective quality they did when they went gold) and he's got the wolf's ears and tail.

on top of that there's the weird mental sense of the tangled mess of chains and cage between him and Tristan shifting and stretching, tangling Harvey in it—

and then stopping before it's fully unwound from Tristan, leaving all three of them stuck in it. ]

[Of note is how open Tristan's feelings are compared to before. Deep affection and trust for Kaito, confusion, nervousness, uncertainty, but lovelovelove. He nods and watches the other two take their payments, if Kaito's involved he doesn't feel threatened so much as inquisitive.]

[There's a feeling of finding Kaito's transformation cute and then again confusion as he feels the magic binding himself to Kaito. And now Harvey? He has no power to "touch" it, but he makes a surprised noise of inquiry.]

Is this what we're paying for...? How did we get tangled in something so... messy?

That was definitely not what we were going for.

[But Harvey -- the Shadow? -- feels along the bonds in a relaxed sort of way, getting increasingly smug as he gets a better sense of Tristan.

[ meanwhile, Kaito is a fun tangled mess of affronted outrage (with the sense that he's deeply considering turning that into something darker and more violent) layered over overstimulated excitement and curiosity (mostly in Harvey's direction) and a sense of... contentment? he likes them, and he's happy to have them both there. ]

No, it really wasn't— the entire point of this was to try to shift it from me and you to me and Harvey, since it can't be destroyed quickly and with would bother us less. ...I'm going to have a word with the staff, I think.
