KAITO: SHADOW GARBAGE AU EDITION OPEN POST

Because sometimes you love both the split personality and inner demons tropes way too much, and there's only one way to handle it.

THE AU IS RIDICULOUS, but all you really need to know is Kaito got humanity's malice dumped into his head along with ridiculous power, and his way of coping with both that and the trauma involved was to shove it all in with everything else he represses the heck out of and then completely dissociate himself from it. End result: what he thinks of as his inner monster has completely split off into a personality of its own, following the imagery and pattern left behind by the Shadow from that one time the Vocaloid Dressing Room had a Persona event.

(Please don't judge me.)

Feel free to pick a scenario, if you can't think of one just blank tag this sucker and I'll come up with something!

Warning! There will be a decently high probability of maiming in this post! If you're not okay with that, that's cool; just let me know in a comment header or something and I will have normal Kaito intervene. (Alternately, if you want to get mauled... well. All you have to do is ask :))

[He strokes the cover of the book and then looks away, chains in Kaito's mind loosening.]

You have one hour to eat. He'll be confined after that.

[ his eyes catch and blaze gold almost before Tristan is done speaking, his entire posture shifting from tense weariness to something akin to a startled feral animal as his Shadow desperately claws its way free and takes back the control he's been so desperate to give up.

promptly skittering back a few steps, and turning to bolt ]

[He watches out of the corner of his eye but raises no hand or magic to catch Kaito or stall him. He doesn't need to. In an hour the cage will slam shut again, Tris won't even have to be nearby.]

[ an hour is enough time to eat. more than enough, really, unless he wants to give in to hunger and have a feeding frenzy, and he's got more important things to do than that.

there are footsteps coming back toward Tristan's room, about a quarter of an hour before the cage is set to shut again ]

[Tristan's still awake, leaning against the wall and looking out the window. His book open in his lap but he's clearly half asleep, not really looking at anything. Footsteps could be to any of the adjoining rooms, it's only when they stop outside his door that he pays some notice.]

[ slipping back in without knocking, eyes still lit up poisonous yellow, and promptly shifting as the door shuts behind him. it surprisingly undramatic; just a gathering of shadows darkening his body before it expands back outward into the wolf.

he's covered in Tristan's glowing chains, now, tangling his legs up and binding his movements, and there are new raw welts from where they've been rubbing up against him. he just looks at Tristan, gaze steady, and slowly collapses into a lying down position before he starts licking at the worst of the wounds. ]

[He stares at that a moment. Face blank, devoid of anything he might feel. He may as well feel nothing at the sight. Unfortunately for his impassive facade Kaito bound them with more than physical chains before, and his own magic leaked into the other man's soul. There's some feedback in emotion, a faint sense that yes, that distresses him. But he's not reacting, simply looking down at his book like he couldn't give any fewer fucks.]

[ growls, soft and irritated—still suppressing!—but does not comment. he's learned that lesson.

for the most part, though, he's fine with staying and licking his wounds for the rest of the time he has. Tristan will have to see what he's done, and as for him... well. he has always been for the expressing of desires that the rest of him was ashamed of and unable to admit; of course he would come back to Tristan's side. ]

[It's about five minutes before his hour is up before Tristan even speaks, not looking up from his book though he is keenly aware of every wound in sight, at the edges of his vision.]

You have little time left if you planned on saying anything.

[ ruffles his fur, agitated ]

I didn't. I just wanted to be here.

[royallyfuckedup]

[He closes his book, looking at Kaito directly, sharp.]

Why?

[was_no_monster]

I wanted you to see.

...And you're still Tristan.

I know what I've done. You won't get me to undo it by looking pitiful.

[ shifting caaarefully and putting his head down on the floor ]

[royallyfuckedup]

[Fucking goddamn stupid frankenstein.]

Come here.

[was_no_monster]

[ whines, but gets up and picks his way over with his ears laid back ]

Up.

[He pats the bed.]

[ UNHAPPY EARS INTENSIFY ]

I'm not a dog...

[ he's tall enough that it's honestly easier to flop onto the mattress and pull his legs up after him than try to step up with the way the chains are wrapped ]
