KAITO: SHADOW GARBAGE AU EDITION OPEN POST

Because sometimes you love both the split personality and inner demons tropes way too much, and there's only one way to handle it.

THE AU IS RIDICULOUS, but all you really need to know is Kaito got humanity's malice dumped into his head along with ridiculous power, and his way of coping with both that and the trauma involved was to shove it all in with everything else he represses the heck out of and then completely dissociate himself from it. End result: what he thinks of as his inner monster has completely split off into a personality of its own, following the imagery and pattern left behind by the Shadow from that one time the Vocaloid Dressing Room had a Persona event.

(Please don't judge me.)

Feel free to pick a scenario, if you can't think of one just blank tag this sucker and I'll come up with something!

[ his expression goes absolutely piteous before he can cover it up, although it's hard to tell whether it's in response to the question or Tristan smiling at him ]

[He was going to say not a chance but that expression moves his heart, as much as he hates it. As much as he wants to scream at Kaito for it. His faces darkens and his nails dig into the spine of the book. He recalls the feel of the wolf's jaws around his throat, but not clamping down.]




[His voice is sour when he speaks, finally.]

[He strokes the cover of the book and then looks away, chains in Kaito's mind loosening.]

You have one hour to eat. He'll be confined after that.

[ his eyes catch and blaze gold almost before Tristan is done speaking, his entire posture shifting from tense weariness to something akin to a startled feral animal as his Shadow desperately claws its way free and takes back the control he's been so desperate to give up.

promptly skittering back a few steps, and turning to bolt ]

[He watches out of the corner of his eye but raises no hand or magic to catch Kaito or stall him. He doesn't need to. In an hour the cage will slam shut again, Tris won't even have to be nearby.]

[ an hour is enough time to eat. more than enough, really, unless he wants to give in to hunger and have a feeding frenzy, and he's got more important things to do than that.

there are footsteps coming back toward Tristan's room, about a quarter of an hour before the cage is set to shut again ]
