KAITO: SHADOW GARBAGE AU EDITION OPEN POST

Because sometimes you love both the split personality and inner demons tropes way too much, and there's only one way to handle it.

THE AU IS RIDICULOUS, but all you really need to know is Kaito got humanity's malice dumped into his head along with ridiculous power, and his way of coping with both that and the trauma involved was to shove it all in with everything else he represses the heck out of and then completely dissociate himself from it. End result: what he thinks of as his inner monster has completely split off into a personality of its own, following the imagery and pattern left behind by the Shadow from that one time the Vocaloid Dressing Room had a Persona event.

(Please don't judge me.)

Feel free to pick a scenario, if you can't think of one just blank tag this sucker and I'll come up with something!

Warning! There will be a decently high probability of maiming in this post! If you're not okay with that, that's cool; just let me know in a comment header or something and I will have normal Kaito intervene. (Alternately, if you want to get mauled... well. All you have to do is ask :))

sadly I cannot swoon for you because I'm a goddamn enormous misshapen beast of a black wolf. padding toward Tristan with a jangle as the broken chains dangling from his manacles drag across the ground, yellow eyes bright ]

[Well that's not a spectre of murder or anything. Tristan tenses but... Waits. Calmly. He's a goddamn god, murderwolves don't bother him. He certainly doesn't recognize it as Kaito, but he'll see what the beasts wants, if it's not "lunch".]

[ well, it is wagging its tail in slow sweeps, so unless it's planning on playing with its food...

if Tristan doesn't object he's going to stick his nose in his face and sniff him over, completely disregarding his personal space ]

[Well he does like animals. Not as much as Ariel but he lifts a hand to stroke Kaito's ears.]

[ leans into that with a deep, possibly familiar pleased rumble. resting his chin on Tristan's shoulder ]

[I only know one person who purrs like that. He hms and turns his head to regard the creature's face.]

[ sure enough, there are pale scars visible underneath the black fur matching Kaito's. squinting his eyes shut, pleased ]

You recognized me.

[ the wolf's mouth doesn't move, but it's definitely his voice— albeit distorted. it's more of a tenor than his usual bass rumble, and it sounds like there's more than one of him talking at the same time ]

[Or is it a theater effect? He leans back to inspect Kaito.]

[ rumbles again, and then licks his lips, lazily. there's an abrupt hiss of indrawn air as his mouth opens, and if Tristan is sensitive enough he can probably feel it as something tugs on his power in much the same way that sudden rush of air tugs at his hair and cloths ]

[His eyes narrow slightly but he does not shove Kaito off immediately. But he can feel it yes, and he tenses subtly. He is extremely fussy about having his power affected. For some reason.]

A youkai? Curious. She must have thought it suited you.

We were close to it. We probably would have been one already if they existed where we came from.

[He runs his fingers through Kaito's fur. Humming thoughtfully.]

[ nudges him ]

[ pulls back and grins, revealing far too many far too sharp teeth than should fit in a wolf's jaw ]

Is that a threat?

I was something else, before we became a youkai. I would absolutely say that who the rest of me was before this was a lie.
